Meet Sandy

Celebrated Scottish sculptor Alexander (Sandy) Stoddart was recently interviewed by the BBC in his studio, which is based on the Paisley Campus, as part of a documentary on renowned Scottish architect, Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson.

The BBC is making a 60 minute BBC Scotland documentary about the architecture of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth. David Hayman, who received an Honorary Degree from UWS is 2004, is presenting the programme and will explore many of the key, existing Thomson creations and speak with experts, such as Sandy Stoddart, on how the architect created such iconic buildings.

David joined Sandy in his studio on 30 January to discuss the detail of Thomson’s work, and to learn about the sculpting process.
