UWS School of Business and Creative Industries is looking for student entrepreneurial ideas... ( Deadline for applications: 9am, Monday 12th April 2021)
The Ideas in Enterprise Competition is open to any School of Business and Creative Industries students currently enrolled at the University of the West of Scotland at any level at any campus.
The aim of the competition is to foster a spirit of enterprise by encouraging students who may have an idea for a business but have not yet had the time to develop it. You do not have to be seriously thinking of taking the idea forward commercially, instead look at this as an opportunity to consider your idea in a bit more detail. It’s all about the idea and there’s no requirement to actually start a business. You can enter on your own or as part of a group and applicants complete a short application form outlining their business idea and the finalists will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.
The overall winner will receive the prestigious William Elder Award for Enterprise which is generously funded by UWS alumnus Dr William Elder and is awarded to the most innovative idea which demonstrates real market potential. William Elder has been supporting innovation within UWS for many years by providing funding for entrepreneurship initiatives within the University. Entry to the competition is a valuable experience for potential student entrepreneurs, since they receive important feedback on their business idea from the William Elder Advisory Panel, which consists of experienced and prominent business experts.
In addition to the £2000 in prize money up for grabs there will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The prize pot itself will be divided as follows:
1st prize (The William Elder Award for Enterprise): £1500
2nd prize: £350
3rd prize: £150
To enter the competition you must be an enrolled student within the School of Business and Creative Industries and will need to complete and submit the simple Application Form template from the Ideas in Enterprise Awards Website which is designed to capture some key details about your idea and its potential in the market. This should be no more than 1500 words in total. The website can be found using the following link:
Please note: All applications should be emailed to Dr. Alan Murray firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline for applications which is 9am, Monday 12th April 2021. Any applications received after this point will not be considered. All finalists will then attend the online awards ceremony where the winners will be announced.
